Property taxation

This Committee focuses on the imapct of property taxation upon the property industry and its customers and investors.  The Committee considers both UK and international imnpacts, working with our London-based colleagues within BPF to inform, consult and listen to the concerns of SPF members.  In Scotland the main issue that arises is currently business rates although this is now evolving with the introduction of the Scotland Bill 2011 which will bring greater fiscal responsibility to the Scottish Parliament.  Current issues include:

• business rates policy, including empty property rates
• stamp duty land tax
• capital allowances
• enterprise zones
• European Regulations on real estate and business transactions
• Scotland Bill 2010-11
