How we work PDF Print E-mail

We rely hugely on our members' input, involving them in the setting of policy, directly lobbying and informing politicians and officials, speaking to the media and in responding to consultations. Through us, members can help the Scottish and UK governments and other policy makers to create and implement their policies. We have found that we can have far more influence when we work with, rather than against, those who take the decisions.  Naturally this is not always possible, but even if we disagree with government thinking it is better to do so based on a full understanding of their position.

We also work closely with other representative organisations - including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Scotland), Investment Property Forum, British Council for Offices, Homes for Scotland, British Council for Shopping Centres, Confederation of British Industry (Scotland), Scottish Council for Development & Industry and the Scottish Retail Consortium - where there are advantages to be gained from pooling our resources or from lobbying in a collective, co-ordinated way.

We provide helpful links to the websites of these organisations in our links section.

For a brief overview of our current concerns, see our Policy views section.
