21 July: SPF opposes land value tax PDF Print E-mail

SPF has commented on brief remarks made in the Scottish Government paper 'a fairer local tax'.  SPF 's concerns relate to the open discussion encouraged on land value taxation as a replacement for the established business rates system of business contributions to local authority services.  SPF outlines five core reasons why such a move would in its opinion be bad for Scotland including concerns with the practicality of LVT and in particular its relationship with planning and government sustainability policies.
