Scottish Futures Trust - government proposals PDF Print E-mail

The Scottish Government has issued its business case for the development of the Scottish Futures Trust.  The government intends that SFT will be a public sector company which will include a private sector element.  Noting that the Scottish Government cannot undertake borrowing unlike the UK government and local authorities SFT will work alongside local authorities to issues local bond schemes intended to raise finance for infrastructure projects.  The government recognises that there is concern in the private sector over the interim arrangements before the introduction of SFT.

There appears to have substantial revision of SFT since the concept was first announced in consultation in December 2007.  SPF was among a number of bodies who raised clear concerns with the SPF proposal (see policy statement).  We have followed up our earlier comments and will be meeting the Finance Secretary in due course to elaborate upon our concerns.
