SPF welcomes service charge code to Scotland

The Scottish Property Federation is recommending that members support and adopt the new RICS Service Charge Code for commercial property landlords.  The Code largely mirrors the England and Wales version adopted south of the border in April 2007 except for amendments that reflect the different legal framework.  In Scotland the Code has come into effect since 11th September 2007 and will apply from April 2008.

SPF supports best practice in the area of service charges and therefore welcomes the roll out of the service charge code to Scotland.  The code is supported by the Property Standardisation Group and was initially constructed from a pan-industry working group put together by the RICS.
