Commenting on the legislative programme announced today by Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, David Melhuish, Director of the Scottish Property Federation, said:
“We welcome the Scottish Government’s commitment to seeking investment to boost business and jobs in Scotland.
“The focus on small house builders through Help to Buy has been strongly welcomed by the house-building industry and we also support this proposal, which we believe will help to encourage a new generation of Scottish property entrepreneurs to enter a sector still only just recovering from the credit crunch and recession.
“On land reform, we look forward to seeing the detailed proposals of the consultation and Bill, beginning with next week’s policy statement on land rights and responsibilities and how this balances with existing planning regulatory controls and drivers in particular.
“For the wider good of investment in Scottish business and in particular the rural tourist industry at large it will be hugely important to avoid an impression that Scotland does not welcome investment from outside of Scotland.”
